Somniantes

A story tells of Henry Ford’s buying scrapped Ford cars and having his engineers disassemble them to see which parts failed and which were still in good shape. Engineers assumed this was done to find the weak parts and make them stronger. Nope. Ford explained that he wanted to find the parts that were still in good shape. The company could save money if they redesigned these parts to fail at the same time as the others.
เล่ากันมาว่า เฮนรี่ ฟอร์ด ซื้อซากรถยนต์ฟอร์ดกลับมาแล้วสั่งให้วิศวะกรของเขาแยกชิ้นส่วนต่างๆ เพื่อตรวจดูว่าชิ้นส่วนอันไหนพัง และชิ้นส่วนอันไหนยังคงสภาพดี, วิศวะกรก็คิดเอาว่าการทำเช่นนี้เพื่อค้นหาชิ้นส่วนที่มีประสิทธิภาพไม่ดีแล้วจะได้ปรับปรุงให้มันดีขึ้น แต่เปล่าหรอก ฟอร์ดอธิบายว่าเขาต้องการหาชิ้นส่วนที่ยังอยู่ในสภาพดี แล้วบริษัทจะได้สามารถประหยัดเงินได้มากขึ้นถ้าสามารถออกแบบใหม่ให้ชิ้นส่วนนั้นพังไปพร้อมๆ กับชิ้นส่วนอื่น
